I simply love this fragrance and wanted to share the beauty of it with you all. Sisley Eau Du Soir is an extremely elegant example of a fragrance falling into the chypre family and it is a cult product from Sisley Paris.

Sisley Paris was one of the first luxury beauty brands to use botanical essences in cosmetology and creates high quality skin care and make-up products which combine nature and science.  There are beautiful and effective anti-ageing products  in the range, award-winning sun-care and some of the best face masks on the market. Sisley Paris had award-winning face masks before face masks even became a ‘thing’. Two of my favourite products from the brand are the Phyto-Lip Twist tinted balms which I have instagrammed about before and the Black Rose Cream face mask. I have also had and used an array of skin care samples over time and additional products that I lust over are on my wish list such as  the Black Rose Precious Face Oil, Sisleÿa L’Intégral Anti-Âge for the face and the Gentle Facial Buffing Cream with botanical extracts, all the textures are so divine and heavenly and you can see the improvements on the skin from first use.

Sisley Paris are also very well-known for fine perfumes created in the tradition of French ‘haute parfumerie’, special, bespoke, original, works of art in both composition and design utilising beautiful fragrance materials to create unforgettable treasures that stand the test of time to become iconic, classic and enjoyed by many for decades to date. Eau Du Soir was allegedly Countess Isabelle d’Organo’s ‘personal’ perfume before it was released to market and like many fragrances has an olfactive memory attached to it as it was created with particular notes to remind her of her childhood in Spain. I do like the story and as consumers we take fragrances and make them our own and attach our own memories to them.

When you think of the chypre family the classic Guerlain Mitsouko may spring to mind or perhaps Chanel No 19 or Coque D’Or (I have them on my dressing table) and it is exciting to see modern fragrances falling into the chypre genre such as Mugler Les Exceptions (Chyprisimme), Juliette Has a Gun (Mad Madame), Liz Earle (No 9), Maison Martin Margiela (Soul of the Forest) and Frederic Malle (Noir Epices) to name a few.

I appreciate a variety of chypres – fresh, green, woody, leather and Eau Du Soir is classed as a floral chypre.

Eau Du Soir’s composition is as follows:-

TOP NOTES:  Mandarin and grapefruit.

MIDDLE NOTES:  Syringa, rose absolute, jasmine, ylang ylang, lily of the valley, iris, oakmoss, cistus, pepper, juniper and clove.

BASE NOTES: Patchouli, amber and musk.

It is not a shrinking violet, it packs a punch and it means business. Sali Hughes often refers to a category of fragrances that are like a ‘loaded pistol in your pants’,  for her that is Chanel No 5 (which is reserved for my beautiful mother in my world as it is her signature scent) and I know exactly what she means and feel that this fragrance does fall into that category as it has a backbone, makes you feel confident and it does bolster you for whatever life is going to throw at you but it has many facets and a tremendous personality. It is a great perfume for any time of year. Even though I don’t really apply ‘rules’,  as I generally go with a mood or feeling when choosing fragrance, I do like to use this particularly in Spring and Summer.

It is sharp, green, fresh, sparkling and then develops into the heart which is sensual, soft and alluring right through to the woodsy, musky base which lasts and lasts and lasts and lasts…..you get the picture.. 🙂

The composition is complex and the molecules project for hours. it is quite extraordinary how ‘sparkling’ and active it is on the skin for hours after first applying it.

You only need to apply a couple of spritzes at the very most, you will smell wonderful all day (and for days afterwards, but for showering, such is the longevity), this fragrance also lingers on clothes and scarves.  I enjoy the initial notes and the ‘assault on the senses’ and I find it gets better and better the more it develops on the skin.

The bottle is a vision of beauty, weighty glass, a fine HD spray and adorned with a sculptured gold bottle top, which on the original version of the fragrance that the Countess Isabelle d’Organo wore was 18 carat gold! The contemporary Polish sculptor Bronislaw Krzysztof created the bottle stopper/top and the details are magnificent, such a serene face. The brand release limited edition bottles of Eau Du Soir each year which are extremely collectable.

I have the matching moisturising perfumed body cream to layer and I sometimes wear the body cream alone. The body cream is delectable as you would expect from Sisley Paris given their origins. Containing botanical extracts of jioh and licorice, the texture is sublime, melts into the skin and provides long-lasting hydration and is perfumed with a large dose of the Eau Du Soir fragrance which is noticeable due to the concentration added to the formula, enough, I feel,  to be capable of being worn alone and still have an impact. No scrimping on ingredients here! I apply it liberally on my neck, décolletage and arms.

Sisley Eau Du Soir retails for £175.00 for the 100ml eau de parfum that I have and £79.00 for the Eau Du Soir moisturising perfumed body cream, so undoubtedly it is a considered purchase but to me it is worth every penny for the sheer quality of the composition, the longevity and how unique and beautiful it truly is.
